"We moved into our new home in Sept. 2011 and couldn’t be happier finally living in the Carolinas. Ron and I were born and raised in Chicago with stops along the way in PA,TX and TN. I started golfing semi-seriously 10 years ago, but will never let the results of my game ruin a day spent on these beautiful courses with new friends. My goal is to break 100 and if that happens, I’ll come up with a new goal!"
"My husband and I were born and raised in Chicago, but spent 30 years in the Detroit area where he worked for Ford Motor Co. We moved to OR in the fall of 2010. Having played only social golf I have a high handicap, but with lessons and patient friends, I will improve my game—and will always have fun. "
"I and my husband Joe moved to OR 4 years ago from Pittsburgh, PA. I took up golf 2 years ago after a 35 year hiatus, and this year decided to start keeping a handicap. Joining the ORLGA is another step to achieving my goal of trying to focus on my game and be more serious about it. I find the 2 events I’ve played in with the league are the perfect combination for me of seriousness and fun."
"My husband, Fred, and I have been living at Ocean Ridge for 13 years. I am really enjoying retirement after 40 years of nursing, and I look forward to playing more golf with the ladies and improving my game."
"My husband, Tom, and I have been coming to OR for a number of years, but we finally established permanent residence in May 2012. We moved from CT, but also lived in NY for several years. Even though I am still working full time, I plan to play as much golf as possible with ORLGA."
"My husband Ron and I finally moved to OR full time in July after 9+ years of being weekend residents. We moved from the Raleigh area, where we lived for 20 years, following my retirement on June 1st. We are originally from western Maryland and lived in Northern Virginia before moving to NC. I am looking forward to playing with the league, improving my game, and getting to know my fellow players and neighbors."
"My hometown is Newfane, NY. I took up golf seriously just two years ago, but have just started keeping a handicap this year. I am looking forward to nicer winters than we had in New York and more time available for golf."
"I moved to ORP in May 2012 form Lockport, NY, although I am familiar with OR, having participated in ORLGA’s Member-Guest event with my sister, Kathy Giancarlo. I joined the Ladies League to meet new friends and, of course, to lower my handicap."
Deet, originally from the Harrisburg, PA area, moved to Ocean Ridge in May of 2011 with her husband Andy from their last stop in Connecticut. They have 4 children and 9 grandchildren. "We moved from Fairfax, VA in June 2010. My husband is an avid golfer, but between raising children and working, I have managed to be only a casual golfer. I really enjoy playing, but there is room for improvement. Some say golf is a way to spoil a great walk. I am looking forward to getting better at it, enjoying the beautiful scenery and making new friends."
"I moved to OR in June 2008 with my husband Joe. When I could not play tennis anymore, I needed a new "sport" and so started golfing. I love being outside and forgetting about everything except the great scenery and hitting that little white ball! I hope to improve my game and make new friends with ORLGA."
Jeanne moved to OR early in 2010 from Downingtown, PA. She loves the relaxed coastal lifestyle and spends time exploring hidden nature areas and photographing the abundant wildlife here. She looks forward to being more involved with ORLGA, making new friends, and getting back into the game, which she has not played much since 1984.
"We moved to ORP from Ellicott City, MD permanently in January, 2010. We love our new neighborhood! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. I originally took up golf so I would not be a “golf widow” but I have managed to catch the bug. I joined ORLGA to meet other lady golfers and to improve my game. I look forward to many fun rounds with old and new friends!"
"We moved from Pittsburgh, PA in November 2010. Until now, I have been a social golfer, playing only a few times a year. Now I look forward to really learning the game and making new friends (I need my girlfriends!)and enjoying the beauty here in Ocean Ridge. Maybe I’ll catch the golf bug too!"

"We arrived in OR in November and have met great people. I am looking forward to improving my golf so I can say, 'Yes, I play golf', instead of, 'I play AT golf!'"
"When my husband and I retired to Ocean Ridge several years ago I said I would NEVER play golf. Note the emphasis on NEVER. Friends convinced me to go out one afternoon. I now have the golf bug. I play several times a week (mostly with close friends that put up with my playing), am taking golf lessons and just recently purchased a new set of clubs. My goal is to one day golf a 2-digit game."
"I moved to ORP from Centreville, VA in June 2009. My vision of retired life in NC was I'd be the beach bum while my husband pursued his golf passion. But so many of my new gal friends are golfers and ORLGA members, and I'm really enjoying the challenge of learning this maddening game with their support and encouragement."
"My golf career started just before we moved from Canada in 1992 down to Florida. When we moved there, we lived in a golf community and I became hooked playing almost every day. When we moved to Chicago in 2001, I was burned out and was happy to have the snow come so I could have a break. I have played on travel teams as well as belonged to golf leagues that hosted games at different courses around the state and competed in tournaments, both for pleasure and competitive. I am looking forward to playing in a league that runs all year again and hopefully I'll get my handicap back to where it belongs, however, I'm not as young as I used to be!!!"
"I am originally from Illinois, but our most recent home was Burke, Virginia. After 16 moves and 30 years following my husband’s Air Force career, we are settling down in OR. I look forward to meeting new friends and to lowering my golf handicap to the low 20’s."
"Being from Saratoga Springs, NY we had a short golfing season, along with working fulltime and wanting to spend time with grandsons I could only dream about golfing. Now I’m living the dream and hope to improve my game and make many new friends while just enjoying the outdoors."
"We moved from the Boston area several years ago. Golf is brand new to me having played tennis most of my life. I thought the transition from tennis to golf would be relatively easy. After all, how hard could it be to hit a little white ball that doesn’t move - little did I know! I love Ocean Ridge - great friends, beautiful scenery and the BIG challenge of golf!"

However, ever since I bought my home, I have discovered that the residents of Ocean Ridge (& most especially my neighbors on Sidbury Lane & Gladstone Circle) are the real reason why this is such a beautiful community!
