ORLGA PRESIDENT'S CUP
GOLF TOURNAMENT
April 21 - July 15, 2025

FORMAT: The ORLGA President’s Cup Tournament is a Flighted, Better-Net of Partners Match Play event which consists of two-person teams. The tournament will end when all FLIGHTS have determined a winning team and playoff and finals round have been played. Number of places paid will be dependent upon the number of teams in each flight.

ENTRY FEE: $10 per person ($20 per team). Please drop it off into the box on Kris Heurich's porch (6393 Romney Notch) before your first match. All money received will be awarded to winners in each flight.

ELIGIBILITY: Each player must be a dues-paying member of the ORLGA and have a valid handicap in GHIN. Also, the minimum play rule is in effect for this competition.

SIGN UP: Members may sign up as a team or as individuals who will be assigned a partner. Both partners should be available to play the majority of the timeframe (April 21 through July 15) to facilitate greater ease in scheduling matches. You should not be signing up if you have scheduled surgeries or vacations that will make you unavailable for most of this time. The sign-up for the Presidents Cup will close on Frida, April 18.

MATCH PLAY: USGA Rule 3.2. Match play is a form of play where a player (or players) plays directly against an opponent (or opponents) in a head-to-head match. You win a hole when one of the teammates completes it in the fewest number of strokes. All players should familiarize themselves with the rules as included in "2025 PC ORLGA Rules and Format - USGA Match Play Rules" document found on the web site right below this document or on the web Tournament sign-up. If you are unsure how to proceed with something during play, you and your opponent can agree on a course of action, but you are not allowed to waive a Rule. If you and your opponent don't agree on how to proceed, you should do what you think is correct. Your opponent can then make a request for a ruling, which will later be decided by the Tournament Committee.

INDEX DIFFERENTIAL: At no time can the differental be greater than 8 for handicapping purposes. Should the difference be greater than 8, then the higher handicapped person will be capped at 8 strokes more than the lower.

FLIGHTING: The teams are established by handicaps into flights, depending on the number of teams that sign up. The flights will be determined based on indexes on April 18, 2025 and be balanced as possible. Matches must be played between April 21 and July 15. If any teams do not complete their matches by July 15, they will forfeit the matches not played, unless an extension is granted by the Tournament Committee.

HANDICAP: All players will receive 90% of their handicap. In each match, the low handicap player has no strokes and the other three players have the difference between their handicap and the low handicap person or Player A. Each player receives strokes from Player A. Appropriate rounding will be used.

SCORECARDS: Players should use Tournament Manager to generate and print scorecards. The procedures to create the scorecards can be found on the ORLGA website under Guidelines and Forms/President’s Cup. Players who are unable to access or have difficulty working with the software may contact a member of the Tournament Committee or one of the appropriate golf event directors for the month for assistance in preparing scorecards.

TEE TIMES AND COURSES: Course and Tee Times must be mutually accepted by both teams. Teams must be agreeable to play at least two courses.

PRIOR TO MATCH: Discuss and agree upon possible situations, i.e. If it rains and both teams agree to stop the match, will you finish the hole stopped at or play that hole again? Which team will tee off first? Also, be sure to have a copy of the Rules of Golf and the "2025 PC ORLGA Rules and Format - USGA Match Play Rules" document to reference for rules questions.

SCORING: All players are expected to record a score for each hole on the scorecard, post a score in GHIN at the end of the round, and place one copy of the scorecard in the Handicap box. If a player picks up and does not complete the hole, the player must record either their Most Likely Score (MLS) not to exceed the Net Double Bogey maximum (Double bogey plus your handicap for that hole). In both cases, an X must be added to the score, i.e. 8X. To win a hole a player must successfully putt out. If all 4 players record their Max or Most Likely Score (MLS), no points are awarded for that hole.

NOTE: For Ringers purposes, you may not record a Ringers score for a hole that you did not complete. Any holes that you picked up for any reason must be recorded with the MLS (most likely score) followed by an X.

POINTS: There will be 18 points awarded for each match. One point will be given for each hole. To win a point, at least one player from the winning team must have holed out. Holes that are tied will receive ½ point each. If after all matches within the flight have been played a tie occurs between two teams, the first tiebreaker will be to determine the winner of the original flighted match. For example, when Team 1 played Team 2, Team 2 won the match 10 to 8.

PLAYOFFS: The winner of Flight A will play the winner of Flight C. The winner of Flight B will play the winner of Flight D. The winners of those matches will play for the President's Cup title. Playoffs and Final rounds will be played July 16 - September 21.

WITHDRAWALS: If during the event a team withdraws from the tournament because of family emergency or health related issues, etc., any games the team may have played will be removed from the competition. If one team member withdraws, the remaining team member may opt to play the remaining matches without the original team member. If a team member has withdrawn before any matches have been played that member may be replaced by another ORLGA member of a similar handicap.

QUESTIONS: Questions, rules, and/or any unresolved issues are to be presented to the Tournament Committee for resolution. The President of the ORLGA will resolve any appeals.

AWARDS: The flight winners will be announced at the ORLGA's quarterly meeting held in October.
